In-person · Beaumont, TXElectrical safety training in Beaumont, TX
Beaumont and Port Arthur hold two of the largest refineries in the country, a new LNG export terminal at Sabine Pass and a grid that runs on MISO instead of ERCOT. We train the electrical crews who keep the Golden Triangle's plants and terminals running, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Beaumont when you ask.
Private employers in Texas are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Texas electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Beaumont crew
Crews we train in and around Beaumont: refining, petrochemical, lng construction and operations, turnaround and industrial contractors, ports and marine terminals, public employers.
What the class covers for Beaumont crews
Motiva, ExxonMobil, Valero and TotalEnergies all draw on the same regional pool of contract electricians. We cover host and contract employer duties so a crew moving between plants carries one consistent set of practices.
Golden Pass and Port Arthur LNG energize switchgear train by train while construction continues next door. We spend time on the handoff from construction rules to an operating electrically safe work program.
Laura left transmission structures beyond repair and substations across the region damaged. We cover evaluating flooded or storm-damaged gear before it is re-energized and controlling backfeed from temporary generators.
The 2026 Valero hydrotreater fire is a reminder that electrical isolation is part of plant emergency response. We tie arc flash and shock planning to rescue, isolation and restart decisions.

Texas: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: federal OSHA
Texas has no state plan. Jefferson and Orange counties fall under the federal OSHA Houston South Area Office, and city, county, port and school district employees in Texas are not covered by OSHA at all.
Licensing: TDLR
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation licenses electricians statewide, from apprentice through journeyman, master and maintenance electrician. A TDLR license covers installation to the NEC, not NFPA 70E work practices.
Where NFPA 70E fits
NFPA 70E is a consensus standard, not an OSHA rule, and OSHA does not enforce it. Golden Triangle plants use it to show how they meet OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K, and OSHA can still cite the General Duty Clause for a recognized electrical hazard.
Beaumont's electrical work environment
The Golden Triangle of Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange is built around the Sabine-Neches Waterway. Motiva's Port Arthur refinery reached 654,000 barrels a day in 2025, and ExxonMobil's Beaumont refinery passed 630,000 barrels a day when its $2 billion expansion started up in March 2023. Valero and TotalEnergies run large refineries in Port Arthur as well, and TotalEnergies operates a steam cracker there with BASF.
LNG is the newest layer. Golden Pass, a QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil venture about 10 miles south of Port Arthur, produced its first LNG in March 2026 and shipped its first cargo in April, while Trains 2 and 3 are still in construction and commissioning. Sempra's Port Arthur LNG has two phases under construction that together add 26 million tonnes a year of export capacity.
Incidents and storms keep electrical work in the spotlight. A March 2026 explosion and fire in a diesel hydrotreater shut Valero's Port Arthur refinery. Hurricane Laura in 2020 knocked out six of the nine major lines carrying power into Entergy Texas from Louisiana, and more than 6,000 workers rebuilt service in Jefferson and Orange counties.
Refineries, crackers and LNG along the Sabine-Neches Waterway
These are the Golden Triangle sites where electrical crews are busiest. Most run their own substations and large motor loads inside the fence.
| Site | What is there | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Port Arthur Refinery Motiva (Saudi Aramco) | Crude capacity of 654,000 barrels a day, the largest refinery in North America. | Operating |
| Beaumont Refinery ExxonMobil | Expanded by 250,000 barrels a day in 2023 to more than 630,000 barrels a day. | Operating |
| Port Arthur Refinery Valero | Valero's largest refinery, shut after a March 2026 explosion and fire in a diesel hydrotreater. | Operating |
| Port Arthur Refinery and cracker TotalEnergies | 238,000 barrel a day refinery plus a steam cracker run with BASF. | Operating |
| Golden Pass LNG, Train 1 QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil | First LNG in March 2026 and first export cargo in April 2026 at Sabine Pass. | Operating |
| Golden Pass LNG, Trains 2 and 3 QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil | In construction and commissioning, bringing the terminal to about 18 million tonnes a year. | Under construction |
| Port Arthur LNG, Phases 1 and 2 Sempra | Both phases under construction and reported on schedule, adding 26 million tonnes a year. | Under construction |
| Port of Beaumont Port of Beaumont | Ranked as the busiest military port in the world for moving U.S. military equipment. | Operating |
Entergy Texas and the MISO grid
Entergy Texas serves about 538,000 customers across 27 Southeast Texas counties, with headquarters in Beaumont and The Woodlands. Unlike most of the state, its territory sits on the Midcontinent Independent System Operator grid rather than ERCOT. During the February 2021 winter storm, MISO directed Entergy Texas to run rolling outages across Jefferson, Orange, Hardin and Liberty counties.
Inside the plant fences, the picture is more complex than one utility feed. Refineries, crackers and LNG trains run their own substations, large motor control centers and in some cases on-site generation. A lockout at one of these sites can involve utility tie breakers, plant generation and standby units all at once, and the written procedure has to account for every one of them.
Who we train in Beaumont and the Golden Triangle

Operators and electrical staff at the crackers and chemical units that sit beside the refineries along the waterway.
Commissioning crews and new operations staff at Golden Pass and Port Arthur LNG as trains come online.
Contract electricians who rotate between Golden Triangle plants during outage season.
Maintenance electricians at the Port of Beaumont, its marine terminals and the crane and conveyor systems they run.
City, county and navigation district electricians, who have no OSHA coverage in Texas and need their own written program.
