In-person · Elk Grove Village, ILElectrical safety training in Elk Grove Village, IL
Elk Grove Village holds the densest suburban data center cluster in the Chicago market, packed into a business park that backs up to O'Hare. We train the crews who build and run those buildings and the plants around them, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Elk Grove Village when you ask.
Illinois runs a state plan for public employees only. Private employers are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Illinois electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Elk Grove Village crew
Crews we train in and around Elk Grove Village: data center operations, data center construction and commissioning, precision manufacturing, distribution and logistics, village and park district facilities, electrical contractors.
What the class covers for Elk Grove Village crews
Older plants in the park run on equipment that predates any arc flash study. We cover how to handle unlabeled or poorly maintained gear and when to stop and get the study done first.
New data halls bring utility-class switchgear, large UPS systems and battery rooms. The 2-Day Intensive covers DC systems and batteries in depth.
Illinois has no statewide electrician license, and suburbs set their own contractor rules. Our individual qualification form and documented Competency Check give you a consistent record whatever village the work is in.
Expansions here go up beside buildings that are already serving customers. We cover how host and contract employers coordinate energized work and keep unqualified trades outside the boundaries.

Illinois: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: federal OSHA
Private employers in Elk Grove Village are covered by federal OSHA. The Illinois state plan covers public employees only, including village and park district crews.
Licensing: local
Illinois does not license electricians statewide. Electrical licensing and registration are handled by each municipality, so requirements can change at the village line.
Where NFPA 70E fits
NFPA 70E is not an OSHA regulation. It is the consensus standard employers and inspectors use to show how OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K requirements are met.
Elk Grove Village's electrical work environment
The village's business park covers nearly six square miles on the west edge of O'Hare. For decades it was precision manufacturing and distribution. Over the last ten years data centers have filled in among those plants, and by 2019 the village already had about a dozen.
The Elk Grove Technology Park, an 85-acre redevelopment of the old Busse Farm, was built for this. T5, Prime, Stack, Digital Realty and Aligned all operate here, and Stream has planned a three-building campus. ComEd built a compact, fully enclosed substation on Midway Court in anticipation of the load.
On a single block a contractor can walk from a 50-year-old machine shop with a fused disconnect to a brand-new hall with medium-voltage switchgear and lithium-ion UPS. The training has to make sense in both buildings.
ComEd in the O'Hare corridor
ComEd serves Elk Grove Village. Its Midway Court substation, built in anticipation of data center growth, houses all of its equipment in a single building on about five acres, with room for two more transformers.
Land near O'Hare is close to built out, and ComEd is quoting multi-year timelines for large new loads (CBRE H2 2025). That pushes new capacity into denser buildings and expansions on existing pads, where crews end up working beside energized gear more often.
