Electrical safety training in Kansas City, MO

Kansas City has become a hyperscale market, with Meta operating in the Northland and Google building a campus of up to $10 billion nearby. We train the crews who build and run those sites and the plants around them, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Kansas City when you ask.

Private employers in Missouri are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Missouri electrical safety training requirements →

What the class covers for Kansas City crews

Hyperscale construction.

Data center builds put large numbers of electricians, other trades and commissioning agents on the same site. We cover boundary control and how host and contract employers share responsibility for energized work.

DC power and batteries.

New halls bring UPS galleries and battery rooms in volume. The 2-Day Intensive covers DC systems and batteries in depth.

High-uptime plants.

Automotive and defense manufacturing run tight schedules with heavy automation. We cover when energized troubleshooting is justified and how to document the decision.

Local licenses, employer qualification.

Missouri has no statewide journeyman license, and Kansas City runs its own licensing. Neither makes a worker NFPA 70E qualified. Our individual qualification form and documented Competency Check give the employer that record.

Missouri: what applies to your crews

Enforcement: federal OSHA

Missouri has no state plan, so private employers answer to federal OSHA. Region 7 is headquartered in Kansas City and runs area offices here and in St. Louis.

Licensing: local

Missouri offers an optional statewide electrical contractor license. Journeyman and master licensing is handled by cities and counties, and Kansas City runs its own program.

Where NFPA 70E fits

NFPA 70E is not an OSHA regulation. It is the consensus standard employers and inspectors use to show how OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K are met, and OSHA can cite the General Duty Clause for recognized hazards.

Kansas City's electrical work environment

The Northland is where the build-out is happening. Meta brought its $1 billion, 1.4 million square foot campus online off Highway 169 in August 2025. Just east, Google is developing a roughly 500-acre campus near I-435 and US 169, planned as five buildings in phases with an Evergy substation on site.

The industrial base is older and broad. Ford builds the F-150 and Transit at Kansas City Assembly in Claycomo. In south Kansas City, Honeywell runs the National Nuclear Security Administration's National Security Campus, which produces most of the non-nuclear components for the nation's stockpile.

The state line runs through the metro, and crews cross it every week. Both sides are federal OSHA, but licensing changes from city to city. The training needs to hold up wherever the job is.

Power

Evergy

Evergy, formed from Kansas City Power & Light and Westar, serves Kansas City and more than 1.7 million customers across western Missouri and eastern Kansas. Its Hawthorn Generating Station operates inside the city limits.

Data centers are reshaping that system. Evergy has signed agreements for five data center projects totaling about 2.5 GW of peak load and reports a pipeline above 10 GW (Evergy, Q2 2026). New substations and large interconnections mean more utility-class equipment inside campus fences.

Questions from Kansas City employers

Do you have a scheduled class in Kansas City?
Not on a fixed calendar. In-person classes in Kansas City are set up on request. Tell us how many people you have and roughly when, and we will come back with a date and a written quote. If your group is large enough, the class runs at your own facility.
We work on both sides of the state line. Does the training change?
No. Missouri and Kansas are both federal OSHA states, so the electrical safety requirements are the same. Local licensing differs, but NFPA 70E qualification is the employer's call either way.
Can you train our crew on a Northland data center site?
Yes. Tell us the shift pattern and any badging or escort rules, and we schedule around your construction or commissioning work.
Our electricians hold Kansas City licenses. Do they still need NFPA 70E training?
Yes. A city license covers installation work under the electrical code. NFPA 70E qualification covers safe work practices on energized equipment, and the employer has to train and document it. That record is what a federal OSHA inspector asks for.
Does finishing the class make someone a qualified electrical worker?
No. Training is one input. Qualified is a determination the employer makes about a specific person on specific equipment, after training plus a demonstration of skills. Every attendee leaves with an individual qualification form and a documented Competency Check so that determination has something to stand on.
