In-person · Nampa, IDElectrical safety training in Nampa, ID
Nampa is Canyon County's manufacturing center, where Lactalis runs its largest U.S. cheese plant and makers of grid electronics and power distribution packages are building new factories. We train the electrical crews who keep Nampa's plants running, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Nampa when you ask.
Private employers in Idaho are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Idaho electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Nampa crew
Crews we train in and around Nampa: dairy and food processing, sugar processing, electrical equipment manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, electrical contractors, public employers.
What the class covers for Nampa crews
Factories that build switchgear, power skids and relays energize and test their products on site. We cover test area boundaries, temporary power and who may approach equipment under test.
Dryers, evaporators and separators run on large motors and VFDs in wet, hot rooms. We cover risk assessment on that gear and troubleshooting without needless exposure.
Sugar beet processing runs hard for months, then shuts down for repairs. We help crews plan the outage season so de-energized work is the norm.
New factories hire electricians from many backgrounds. We give each person a documented Competency Check so the employer can show who is qualified for which tasks.

Idaho: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: federal OSHA
Idaho has no state plan. Nampa employers fall under the federal OSHA Boise Area Office, while City of Nampa, Canyon County and school district employees have no OSHA coverage.
Licensing: DOPL
The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses licenses Idaho electricians statewide from apprentice through master, under rules written by the Idaho Electrical Board. A license does not make a worker qualified for energized work under NFPA 70E.
Where NFPA 70E fits
OSHA does not enforce NFPA 70E, since it is a consensus standard rather than a regulation. Canyon County manufacturers use it to show how they meet OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K, and the General Duty Clause lets OSHA cite recognized electrical hazards.
Nampa's electrical work environment
Lactalis bought the former Swiss Village Cheese Factory from Simplot in 1999 and grew it into the company's largest U.S. plant. About 745 people work there, and about 85 milk trucks deliver roughly 4.8 million pounds of milk a day for Galbani mozzarella and whey products dried in a 150-foot tower. Amalgamated Sugar, which runs a sugar factory in Nampa, and J.R. Simplot each employ 500 to 999 people in Canyon County.
Electrical equipment is the newest layer. In September 2026 Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced a 103,000 square foot plant on North Galleria Drive, a $150 million investment with about 250 jobs, to build devices like those from its Pullman and Lewiston factories. In June 2025 Johnson Thermal Systems, part of Mission Critical Group, announced a $55 million, 172,000 square foot plant in the Adler Midland Industrial Park for power distribution, power packaging and industrial refrigeration.
Canyon County had about 10,869 manufacturing jobs in 2025, and its top employers also include Plexus, Saint Alphonsus and Walmart. The Union Pacific line through Nampa ties the plants to the rest of the Northwest. In 2023 about 65,000 Canyon County residents commuted to jobs in other counties, many of them across the Treasure Valley.

Idaho Power and a growing Treasure Valley load
Idaho Power, headquartered in nearby Boise, serves Nampa and the Treasure Valley from a system anchored by 17 hydroelectric plants, including the three-dam Hells Canyon Complex finished in 1968, plus natural gas plants and a share of a coal plant.
Load is climbing as new factories and data centers arrive in the valley. For plant electricians, the practical change is more large service entrances, bigger transformers and higher available fault current at the main switchgear. Arc flash studies done years ago may not match today's utility supply, so the labels deserve a fresh look whenever the service changes.
