In-person · Shreveport, LAElectrical safety training in Shreveport, LA
Shreveport and Bossier City sit on the Haynesville Shale, beside Barksdale Air Force Base and a Calumet refinery, and Amazon has now picked Caddo and Bossier parishes for a $12 billion data center build. We train the electrical crews who work across northwest Louisiana's gas fields, plants and military sites, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Shreveport when you ask.
Private employers in Louisiana are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Louisiana electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Shreveport crew
Crews we train in and around Shreveport: natural gas production, military contractors, refining, data center construction, manufacturing and logistics, public employers.
What the class covers for Shreveport crews
Haynesville wellsites and compressor stations put field hands near energized equipment far from town, and the rig count keeps rising. We cover the limits for unqualified workers and the job briefing that should happen before anyone opens a cabinet.
The Caddo and Bossier campuses will be built and energized in phases over several years. We spend time on the handoff from construction rules to an operating electrically safe work program as each block of switchgear goes live.
Calumet's 2026 chloride event idled large parts of the plant before a staged restart. We tie arc flash and shock planning to shutdown, isolation and re-energizing decisions when units come back one at a time.
Louisiana licenses contractors, not individual electricians, so crews arrive with very different backgrounds. We give every worker in the class the same baseline in shock and arc flash protection.

Louisiana: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: federal OSHA
Caddo and Bossier parishes are covered by the federal OSHA Baton Rouge Area Office because Louisiana has no state plan. Public employees in the state have no OSHA coverage.
Licensing: contractor-based
The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors licenses electrical contractors on jobs above set values. There is no statewide journeyman or master card, so individual qualification depends on local credentials and the employer's own records.
Where NFPA 70E fits
NFPA 70E sits outside OSHA's own enforcement. Ark-La-Tex employers use it to show how they comply with OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K, while OSHA retains the General Duty Clause for recognized electrical hazards.
Shreveport's electrical work environment
Barksdale Air Force Base, across the Red River in Bossier City, is home to the 2nd Bomb Wing and its 11th, 20th and 96th Bomb Squadrons, which fly the B-52H and train every Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Force Reserve B-52 crew. The base also hosts the Global Strike Command headquarters, so facility, utility and construction contractors work on and around it year round.
Gas and refining set the industrial pace. The DOE forecast in February 2026 that Haynesville output would average 15.6 billion cubic feet a day this year and 17.1 in 2027, and the basin's rig count had more than doubled from a year earlier. Calumet's Shreveport refinery runs more than 50,000 barrels a day of feedstock, and it came back to full operation in spring 2026 after organic chlorides found in its feed tanks forced it to suspend large parts of the plant and lose about 750,000 barrels of production.
The old manufacturing base is being refilled. SLB now leases more than 3.1 million square feet of the former General Motors assembly plant for digital infrastructure manufacturing, with about 820 workers on site in June 2026 and about 1,200 expected, alongside Hyundai Glovis and USPS. In February 2026 Amazon and developer STACK Infrastructure announced data center campuses on State Line Road near Blanchard and north of Benton, each expected to run 2 million to 3 million square feet, with about 1,500 construction jobs.
Bombers, shale gas, refining and new data centers in the Ark-La-Tex
These are the Shreveport and Bossier City sites that keep electrical crews busiest. Gas field work is spread across several parishes, and the newest loads are still being built.

SWEPCO and northwest Louisiana
Southwestern Electric Power Company, an AEP subsidiary headquartered in Shreveport, serves about 556,100 customers in northwest and central Louisiana, East Texas, western Arkansas and the Texas Panhandle. Its generation plan is shifting to gas. SWEPCO is rebuilding the retired Pirkey lignite plant in Hallsville, Texas as a 450 MW gas plant, with equipment delivered in July 2026, and it has filed to convert 1,053 MW at the Welsh Plant from coal to gas. It also buys output from the 72.5 MW Rocking R solar facility in Caddo Parish.
Data centers are the reason the numbers keep moving. Amazon has committed to pay all of the new energy infrastructure and upgrade costs needed to serve its Caddo and Bossier campuses, which local partners say sit on separate transmission lines for redundancy. For facility crews, each new utility feed, substation, standby generator and UPS adds a source that lockout and energized work procedures have to cover.
