In-person · Tulsa, OKElectrical safety training in Tulsa, OK
Tulsa runs the largest commercial aircraft maintenance base in the world, a 125,000 barrel a day refinery in West Tulsa and an inland river port, while Google keeps adding data centers in Pryor and across Green Country. We train the electrical crews who keep them running, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Tulsa when you ask.
Private employers in Oklahoma are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Oklahoma electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Tulsa crew
Crews we train in and around Tulsa: aviation maintenance, refining, data centers, port and park industry, utilities and contractors, public employers.
What the class covers for Tulsa crews
MRO hangars bring ground power units, 400 Hz converters, aircraft batteries and plating shop rectifiers onto one floor. We cover the DC and stored energy hazards that general industry classes often skip.
Two fires at the West Tulsa refinery in 18 months show that electrical isolation is part of plant emergency response. We tie arc flash and shock planning to isolation, rescue and restart decisions.
Google is building in Pryor, Owasso, Stillwater and Muskogee at the same time. We cover the handoff from construction to operating rules and work on UPS, switchgear and battery systems.
Tornadoes and ice storms regularly hit northeast Oklahoma, and PSO's 20,852 miles of distribution line take the damage. We cover backfeed from portable generators and evaluating storm-damaged equipment before re-energizing.

Oklahoma: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: federal OSHA and PEOSH
Oklahoma has no OSHA-approved state plan. Private employers answer to the federal OSHA Oklahoma City Area Office, while state agencies, cities, counties and public schools fall under the Oklahoma Department of Labor's PEOSH program.
Licensing: Construction Industries Board
The Oklahoma Construction Industries Board licenses journeyman electricians and electrical contractors statewide and registers apprentices. Cities can still require their own permits and contractor registration.
Where NFPA 70E fits
OSHA does not enforce the NFPA 70E standard. Tulsa employers lean on it to show how they meet OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K, and a recognized electrical hazard can still draw a General Duty Clause citation.
Tulsa's electrical work environment
American Airlines' Tech Ops base at Tulsa International Airport is billed as the largest commercial aircraft maintenance facility in the world, with about 3.3 million square feet of hangars and shops in six hangars with 24 aircraft bays. Its December 2023 upgrade plan covered underground utilities across the base, hangar doors in the overhaul operation and a rebuilt plating shop to support a 50% jump in engine output, along with more than 300 new jobs on a workforce of around 5,000.
Refining and the river shape West and East Tulsa. HF Sinclair's Tulsa refinery has 125,000 barrels a day of crude capacity and makes base oils, process oils and wax alongside fuels. Its fire brigade put out an operational upset fire at Tulsa West in December 2024 and another large fire in May 2026. The Tulsa Port of Catoosa, at the head of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, has a 2,000-acre industrial park with more than 50 companies and nearly 3,500 workers, and the Verdigris Southern Railroad was dedicated at the Tulsa Port of Inola in July 2024.
Data centers are the fastest growing load. Google's Pryor campus at the 9,000-acre MidAmerica Industrial Park now spans eight buildings, and Google says it has invested $15 billion in Oklahoma since 2007. It is also expanding in Owasso, Stillwater and Muskogee County, and in April 2026 OG&E agreed to serve three new Google data centers in Muskogee and Stillwater. CBC Global Ammunition announced a $300 million cartridge plant at MidAmerica in May 2025.

PSO and the Southwest Power Pool
Public Service Company of Oklahoma, an AEP subsidiary headquartered on East Sixth Street in Tulsa, serves 587,550 customers over 3,765 miles of transmission and 20,852 miles of distribution line. Its 7,147 MW of nameplate capability is mostly gas, led by Riverside and Green Country in Jenks, Northeastern in Oologah and Tulsa Power Station, plus the North Central wind facilities. PSO ended its coal operations on December 31, 2025.
PSO operates in the Southwest Power Pool, and in January 2026 it issued an all-source request for up to 4,000 MW of SPP accredited capacity located in Oklahoma, to be in service by November 2029. For facility crews, growth like that shows up as more utility feeds, substations, standby generators and UPS systems on each site, and every one of them is a source that lockout and energized work procedures have to cover.
